Tent building in progress thanks to our guides. Unfortunately, this is an oft-used campsite and it was not thoroughly cleaned by the previous group(s.) There was no way we could relax and enjoy the beautiful setting with trash everywhere. It was heartbreaking. Much to the guides’ surprise and amusement, we picked up every last piece of litter. The next morning we discussed the “leave no trace” principles. It was an interesting cultural exchange. Of course, they have the utmost respect for nature and are longstanding career guides, they just prioritize things differently. After that, we left no trace.
